Eco-friendly packaging - A hot topic at Packaging Innovations in Warsaw

It was a busy two days of meetings and exciting conversations for the members of the PrintCity Alliance exhibiting at the trade fair in Warsaw. The seminar on eco-friendly premium packaging was filled to capacity again this year.

Eco-friendly premium packaging

One of the main topics for visitors was how to produce environmentally friendly packaging while keeping up high standards in terms of quality and visibility at the point-of-sale.

In the seminar, the members of the PrintCity Alliance gave an update on the progress being made in improving environmental impact in the packaging industry.

Samples from the Better Human series where once again used to illustrate this development and included monomaterial packaging, food packaging, as well as LED UV and climate-neutral production methods.

The Alliance drew another large crowd at its seminar this year, underlining the importance of the subject.

Barriers, cold transfer and UV-LED

The future and advantages of LED UV technology − used to produce the new Better Human samples − was another hot topic for many visitors.

The samples also show impressively how cold transfer can replace metallized cardboard and offer advantages for processing (partial application, pre- and postprint) and design integration.

Trendy ice cooler packaging for beverages drew a lot of questions about alternative barrier solutions to protect against liquids and grease. New materials provide possibilities for eliminating foil to make such packaging more environmentally friendly. The cooler forms a barrier with a smart combination of board and water-based varnish.

The Alliance will return in 2022

“We were very impressed with the increasing number of visitors and the vibrant spirit on the Polish market,” concluded, Rainer Kuhn, Managing Director of the PrintCity Alliance. “We are very much looking forward to meeting all our customers again at Packaging Innovations in May 2022!”.

This Press Release is also available in Polish.

Beata Biesiadecka of Zeller+Gmelin:

“Our customers asked about the future of LED technology and its advantages. We discussed in detail our new line of LED inks, i.e. Uvalux FCM U581 and Uvalux U540, for example their outstanding press behavior and deinking properties.

Also, many customers asked about Z+G adhesives for cold transfer processes as a “green” alternative to metallized cardboard.”
